Top Health Insurance Carriers Reveal That They Will Participate in One-Third of The Health Care Exchanges

Fort Wayne, IN (PRWEB) May 06, 2013

Several top health insurance carriers have released information to America’s Health Insurance that they will only be participating in a select few health care exchanges.

This was first released by Reuter’s columnist Caroline Humer, “In recent days, executives at the four largest U.S health insurers say they are likely to sell insurance plans on less than a third of the exchanges, reluctant to venture out beyond the states where they already offer coverage.”
According to the company executives, they are wary of entering certain exchanges because of the lack of clarity about the prices in which they can charge, the number of plans they can sell on each exchange, and whether the exchanges will be ready in time for the October 1st deadline.

The largest carrier in the nation, United Healthcare said that they will likely participate in as few as ten exchanges and no more than twenty-five exchanges. Aetna is projected to submit applications in fourteen exchanges. Executives at WellPoint, which operates Blue Cross Blue Shield, stated that they plan to participate in the fourteen exchanges that they are currently licensed in.

America’s Health Insurance works alongside these top health insurance carriers and will continue to work alongside them when the health care exchanges are implemented in October 2013. They will be assisting individuals with the purchasing of health insurance products inside and outside of the exchanges that the carriers choose to participate in. America’s Health Insurance is a private health insurance exchange. Help is available at http://www.ahifw.com, or 1-888-589-3000.
